Lebron James’ move from the Cleveland Cavaliers to the Miami Heat means that the NBA star needed a new house to call home.

The Miami Herald reports that Lebron just purchased a $9 million mansion in the Coconut Grove area of Miami that overlooks the Biscayne Bay.

The house’s six bedrooms all have views of the ocean. The three-story, 12,000 square foot home also has 8.5 bathrooms situated on a 20,000 square foot lot with access to a dock big enough to accommodate two large yachts.

It seems that some people just can’t get over LeBron James‘ decision to join the Miami heat and the NBA baller thinks that race may have been a major factor in the public’s reaction.

In an interview with CNN, LeBron James and his manager/CEO of his marketing company, Maverick Carter, both say that race was a major factor in how the media and public reacted to

ESPN’s ‘The Decision.’

In the interview, CNN special correspondent Soledad O’Brien asked the duo:

“Do you think there’s a role that race plays in [The Decision] this?”

Lebron responded,

“I think so at times. It’s always, you know, a race factor.”

To which Carter follows up stating,

“It definitely played a role in some of the stuff coming out of the media, things that were written for sure.”

As an example Carter states that although LeBron used valuable airtime to announce a “decision” that the public knew for weeks, the media overlooked the fact that advertising money from it was donated to the Boys and Girls Club of America.

“We own the advertising time. We went out and sold it to brands and we took every time and donated it to charity.”

Although I understand the direction the two were heading when they made the initial claim of racism, I can’t help but to think that this was a way or ploy to get LeBron back in to the good graces of so many fans that felt let down by the disastrous “decision”.

I think what really needs to happen at this point is people need to move on and LeBron just needs to admit the fact that he Brett Favred everyone and live with the consequences of the decision.

This is not a racist thing, it’s a time wasted thing that has clearly backfired in both LeBron and his manager’s face.

Although racism is not dead, I feel that we as black people tend to cry racism in situations where it’s others simply calling out our bad mistakes.

LeBron is now seeing and feeling that he has been labeled a side kick and I feel he is a bit regretful for leaving a situation where he was “king”.

Bottom line, move on.

I really don’t want to hear that “racism” is a reason that he didn’t get a ring this year.

President Obama tested his basketball skills against several current and former NBA stars in a Sunday afternoon pickup game at Fort McNair in Washington.

The group included LeBron James, Grant Hill, Dwyane Wade, Joakim Noah, Derrick Rose, Magic Johnson and Bill Russell, according to reports. Kobe Bryant was also there, but didn’t play.

Education Secretary Arne Duncan also suited up for the all-star game, which took place before an audience of “wounded warriors” and participants in the White House mentoring program.
Reporters were shut out of the gym, because Obama “just wanted to play,” according to White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs.

After the game some of the players joined Obama and a group of his friends for a barbecue at the White House. The menu: shrimp from the oil-soaked Gulf of Mexico.

A small tent and tables decorated with sunflowers and yellow and white tablecloths were set up on the South Lawn for the event, which was part of the president’s 49th birthday weekend.
Alonzo Mourning, Derek Fisher, Carmelo Anthony, Chauncey Billups and Maya Moore of the WNBA Connecticut Huskies were also in attendance.

Jay-Z has ended his friendship with basketball star LeBron James after his controversial decision to move from Cleveland Cavaliers to Miami Heat, according to reports.

Just a few days ago, Vaneisha Robinson believed her dreams were about to come true. As NewsChannel5 and newsnet5.com first reported, Robinson paid $5 for a pendant in the shape of LeBron James' number 23 jersey at a yard sale four years ago.

Robinson thought it was costume jewelry until she had it appraised and certified by International Gemological Institute, which said the diamond-studded, gold jewelry was real and valued at nearly $10,000.

The amateur boxer put the pendant up for sale on eBay, hoping to use the proceeds to open her own gym.

On Wednesday, Robinson said she got a phone call that turned her dream into a nightmare. Robinson said it was Katherine L. Powers, the mother of Maverick O. Carter. Carter is the CEO of LeBron James' marketing company, LRMR.

"[Powers] said that LeBron James was at her house and they wanted me to come over there. They were going to make me an offer that I couldn't refuse," Robinson said.

It turned out the one-of-a-kind pendant belongs to Carter, who claims it was stolen. Robinson said she and her mother went to the Wadsworth house Carter shares with his mother, believing

James was going to buy the pendant and give it back to Carter.

"When I got there, LeBron James was not there. It was about eight or nine other people there," Robinson said. "They pretty much accused me, they threatened me and they used their authority to they (sic) best ability to get the pendant in their possession."
Robinson said she and her mother drove to Carter's house in the 500 block of Caledonia Drive in her mother's pickup truck.

"They blocked her truck in the driveway. They told us that we weren't going anywhere until they got that pendant. I was scared for my life," she said.
Wadsworth police said they were called around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday night by a woman visiting a neighbor of Powers. According to a recording of the 911 call, the woman heard loud arguing. She said she called the police at Powers’s request.

"I walked away from that. I just kept walking just in case something was about to happen," the woman told the 911 dispatcher.

A Wadsworth police spokesperson said Robinson and her mother had already left when they arrived on scene. Powers was the only one there. She had the pendant.

"Ms. Powers showed me the pendant in question and I was able to determine that it was a one-of-a-kind item and it did actually belong to Mr. Carter," said Sgt. James Elchlinger.
Elchlinger said Carter was not at the house during the incident. A receptionist at LRMR told NewsChannel5 Thursday that Carter was unavailable for comment. Powers was not home when a reporter stopped at the house seeking an interview.

The case is under investigation. Robinson did not call police Wednesday night, but showed up at the station Thursday afternoon. Robinson said she was advised to get a lawyer.
Police are trying to determine if the pendant was ever reported stolen. But Robinson maintains she could not have had the jewelry certified by the I.G.S. if it were stolen property.

The boxer vowed her next fight will be in a court of law.

"There was no serial number on that pendant so it's untraceable," Robinson said. "That pendant is mine. It belongs to me. I want it back."

Jesse Jackson spoke out against Cleveland Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert saying that he sees LeBron James as a "runaway slave" and that Gilbert's comments about LeBron joining the Miami Heat put the basketball star in danger!

Gilbert said last week about LeBron:

"He has gotten a free pass. People have covered up for (James) for way too long. Tonight we saw who he really is."

And Jackson's response:

"He speaks as an owner of LeBron and not the owner of the Cleveland Cavaliers. His feelings of betrayal personify a slave master mentality. He sees LeBron as a runaway slave. This is an owner employee relationship — between business partners — and LeBron honored his contract."

With all of this meeting hosting, lawsuit fighting and television show having, LeBron James must be super stressed-out. It is not easy to be made a multi-millionaire in a matter of minutes, you guys. Ergo, it is easy to understand why he would want to kick back and unwind after this week of figuring out which team is most worthy of his considerable talents.

So that's exactly what he's doing, which is not a surprise at all. Everyone deserves a vacation now and then. However, where he'll be partying is more than a little interesting. From US Magazine, favorite of wives around the country:

LeBron James has rented six cabanas at the W Hotel South Beach this weekend to celebrate his team decision, two sources confirm to UsMagazine.com.

That adds more fuel to the fire that James, 25, will announce he's joining the Miami Heat Thursday night, as several insiders told ESPN this morning.


You know what? It is almost like LeBron James likes being in Miami. Consider the fire fueled, and the plot thickened. As any subscriber to Small Businessman Weekly can tell you, there is no better place to connect with four new teammates than in six cabanas in the town where those new teammates are employed. It's just common sense.


Sure, Miami is a very common place to vacation and every day there is like Mardi Gras, but when you consider reports that LeBron is leaning towards joining the Heat, the increased salary cap number and the fact that this vacation takes place just days after "The Decision," things are a little more complicated. It's kind of hard to not assume that LeBron is heading to South Beach to chill with his best bros and new teammates while simulataneously making everyone in Ohio very sad.

Then again, maybe this is just the NBA version of an end of summer bash before everybody gets back to working out for the next season. Supposedly Miami brings the heat, for real. But really, if we don't see grainy pictures of Chris Bosh(notes), Dwyane Wade(notes) and James at an all-white party sometime next week, I'll be very surprised.

However, if this does turn out to be a little foreshadowing for LeBron's team choice, Cleveland is already preparing for the aftermath. From the Cleveland Plain Dealer's Michael Sangiacomo:

Whatever decision LeBron James makes tonight, the Bath Township police department is ready to maintain order near the basketball superstar's home.

Police Chief Michael McNeeley said they have an extra squad of police officers working tonight around the James home to make sure there are no problems.

"Whether we get loads of happy fans or unhappy fans showing up outside his home, we will be prepared to keep the traffic moving," he said.

Good thinking, Cleveland. Either a potential uprising will be quelled or the city's favorite son will be safe from overenthusiastic fans hoping to congratulate him. Whichever way it plays out, it sounds like everything is under control, but there have been a lot of zombie movies that started the same way. LeBron's going to need to keep his head on a swivel, for sure.
