Earlier today, Mariah Carey confirmed to the rest of the world what we already know and have been known for a few days now. For the past few months, folks have been speculating on Mariah Carey’s pregnancy. And throughout the weeks, stories have been going around saying that the she and her husband would be announcing the big pregnancy “really soon” ….. and here we are.

Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon have announced that she and her husband Nick Cannon are expecting their first child together! The happily married couple broke the news this morning on “The Today Show” and will continue with a three-part “Access Hollywood” interview to air later.

“Yes, we are pregnant. This is true,” Mariah confirmed early this morning on Today. “It’s been a long journey, but it’s been tough because I’ve been trying to have…. to hold onto a shred of privacy. And that was not easy.”

Mariah says her baby is due in the Spring, but she didn’t reveal her exact due date because “it’s still early.”

“It’s still early, I’m expecting in the spring, I’ll say that. I don’t want to give too much of like, specific outlines,” she said.

This marks the second time Mr. and Mrs. Cannon have gone through a pregnancy. The first resulted in an unfortunate miscarriage two years ago, something the couple kept from the world for privacy concerns.

“It was really sad so we had to just, we had really to absorb this and take it in,” Carey said about her miscarriage.“And that’s what I said,” Nick chimed in. “Like her strength would literally be during the day so festive and smiling obviously for cameras and spending time with everyone and you know, literally that night crying herself to sleep.”
