Rihanna just can’t seem to keep her mouth shut about last year’s pre-Grammy incident!
Conveniently in time for the release of her new album, RiRi talks about how she felt after the incident, her wake-up call, and her new relationship with Matt Kemp in an upcoming issue of Marie Claire UK (she’s featured on the cover). Peep a few excerpts from the interview below…
On how she felt after the accident:
“God has a crazy way of working, and sometimes when stuff happens you feel like, ‘What did I do to deserve this?’ Why was it backfiring on me?’ But I needed that wake-up call in my life. I needed a turning point, and that’s what God was giving to me.”
On her wake-up call:
“All this terrible stuff they say to you, it breaks you down. [But] once you’re back on your feet — if you ever make it back on your feet — that’s the ultimate achievement. I remember I was in New York at the Trump Hotel and I woke up and I just knew I was over it. It was a different day. I felt different. I didn’t feel lonely,” she recalls. I felt like I wanted to get up and be in the world. That was a great, great feeling.”
On her new relationship:
“I feel like I smile for real this time. The smiles come from inside, and it exudes in everything I do. People feel my energy is different. When I smile they can tell that it’s pure bliss and not just a cover up.”
The island-inspired “What’s My Name” was written by Ester Dean and produced by Stargate.
It will be the second song released from Rihanna’s “Loud” album.
Rihanna already filmed a video for her solo version, the original, but Drake wants to shoot a visual for his remix, as well. He told MTV News,
“I hope we get to shoot a video for that too,” Drake told MTV News. “I’m really excited about that song.”
R&B singer Rihanna wants to feel like the “Only Girl (In The World)” in her newest music video release, directed by her longtime friend Anthony Mandler. The track is the first single off RiRi’s upcoming album Loud, due in stores November 16th. Check out the official video for “Only Girl (In the World)” below…
Rihanna has already said that she’s collaborating with rapper Drake, and now the Pop/R&B singer is speaking on her collab with Drizzy’s Young Money labelmate Nicki Minaj. Rihanna says she and the Young Money femcee worked together on a song called “Raining Men” and spoke highly of Nicki’s skills as a writer in a recent interview with Capital FM. She said:
“You know I worked with her before on Rated R and she was just writing me some really good ballads and I couldn’t wait to work with her again and finally have her on my record. It’s a really fun song. It’s called ‘Raining Men’. No, nothing like the original. It’s quite up-tempo but kind of quirky and funny.
[Nicki] has a great buzz and she has a ‘thing’ to her. She is a star and that’s why people love her. She’s also really entertaining with her visual as well as her lyrics and she has a great melody. I’m really amazed that she can write like that. [Nicki] not only raps but she can write songs too. It was really easy actually. We were going back and forth with the texts on how we were going to get to do it because we were in two different places and had two opposite schedules.”

Fans eagerly awaiting the release of Young Jeezy’s new album Thug Motivation 103 are going to have to wait until closer to Christmas as the project has been reportedly pushed back to December 14th.
The album serves as Jeezy’s fourth and is preceded by the singles “Jizzle,” “All White Everything” and “Lose My Mind,” neither of which are doing so well on the charts right now unfortunately, which would probably explain why the album keeps getting pushed back.
R&B singer Ameriie has announced the title of her fifth studio album. The “One Thing” singer recently premiered a number of tracks from the new album at a nightclub in Paris and revealed that it will be called Cymatika Vol. 1.
Speaking on her new album, Ameriie, who recently added an extra “i” to her name, said:
“It’s completely different! It’s not a hip-hop, R&B, soul album at all. It’s called Cymatika Vol. 1, I’ll have other volumes as well. Cymatika is the study of visual sound. As humans, we’re all energy and light and spirit; and sound plays a part in that because sound is simply vibrating energy. That’s what this album is about… about life and who we are, not being afraid to be who we are, and not forgetting our spirit.
“The album is influenced by new wave and acid house, which I explored in my album Because I Love It in 2007, which was released in Europe. For the fans who heard that, they’ll say, ‘Oh, I could see this coming’. For fans who loved the first album, they’re going to be like, ‘What is this?!’ But I grew up listening to everything, and this is where I am now. And it feels right for me.”
Cymatika Volume 1 is due for release sometime next year.
Rihanna was seen in NYC wearing an Alexander Wang Leather Sleeve Wool Cardigan ($625) and carrying a Louis Vuitton Gypsy Vert Bag (PM-$3,360, GM-$3.860) from the Spring/Summer 2010 collection. She was also rocking her favorite Miu Miu Studded Oxford shoes ($650), which are patent lace-up flats covered with small silver studs. See pics below.
Rihanna wants to feel like she’s the only girl in the world!
The “singer” tweeted this shot over the of her in the middle of a field with a few giant balloons on the set of her new music video for “Only Girl” over the weekend. We wonder which is the bigger “air head” … the balloons or Rihanna?

Then, a couple days later, to prove even further that she’s in the driver’s seat when it comes to her Twitter account, Rihanna posted a twitpic (see above) of her forehead, which she says she burned while trying to curl her new hair with her new curling iron:
“New hair….new curling iron BURN……damn 5head always in the way”
Sounds like RiRi has somewhat of a sense of humor!

In related news, Universal recently revealed to media outlets that the pretend singer is due to drop a brand new album before the end of the year. And french music site Musique Evos is reporting that the currently untitled project is going to hit stores on November 2nd, just weeks before the 1-year anniversary of her last album Rated R.
Furthermore, our friends over at That Grape Juice say that everyone’s favorite Bajan Billy Goat will promote her new album with an upbeat lead single titled “Cheers.”
