Police say five paintings including masterpieces by Picasso and Matisse have been stolen from a Paris museum.

A Paris police official says the paintings were reported missing early Thursday at the Paris Museum of Modern Art. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because the preliminary investigation is still under way.

The official said the paintings were by Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, George Braque, Amedeo Modigliani and Fernand Leger.

Police and investigators have cordoned off the museum, across the Seine River from the Eiffel Tower.

A woman who answered the phone at the museum said questions about the theft would only be answered by the office of Paris mayor Bertrand Delano

- Paul Everette Woodward was put to death by lethal injection Wednesday for the 1986 rape and murder of a 24-year-old Escatawpa woman.

The execution was carried out shortly after 6:30 p.m. CDT at the state penitentiary in Parchman.
It is one of two executions set in as many days. Gerald James Holland is scheduled to be executed Thursday at 6 p.m.

Woodward, 62, was convicted of capital murder in 1987 in the death of Rhonda Crane, a Jackson County Youth Court volunteer.

Crane was driving in July 1986 to join her parents for a family camping trip when Woodward used his log truck to force her to stop on Mississippi Highway 29 south of New Augusta, prosecutors said.

A jury found Woodward guilty of kidnapping and raping Crane, then shooting her to death.

Police find mummified bodies of 2 women, 3 men left in truck near Mexican border city
Wednesday stuffed in plastic bags in a pickup truck left near a highway in the northern Mexico state of Chihuahua.

State police said the bodies — apparently mummified by the desert climate — had not been identified.

The site where the truck was found is south of the violence-plagued border city of Ciudad Juarez, where the truck had been reported stolen.

University authorities in Ciudad Juarez also reported Wednesday that a freshman had been found dead, wrapped in a blanket at a local fairground.

Mexico was shocked when two university students in Monterrey were killed in the crossfire of a shootout between soldiers and gunmen in March.

Also Wednesday, authorities said about 88 tons (80 metric tons) of a precursor chemical used to make methamphetamines had been seized at the Pacific Coast seaport of Manzanillo.

The chemical ethyl phenyl acetate, also known as phenylacetic acid, can also be used in cocaine processing.

The navy said the chemical was found in five shipping containers sent from China to Manzanillo.

Drug traffickers have turned to phenylacetic acid since Mexico effectively banned imports of another precursor, pseudoephedrine.

A similar confiscation, reported at the time as the largest single seizure of its type, was reported by authorities at the same port earlier this month.

-of-three Kimora Lee Simmons says her relationship with actor Djimon Hounsou is “as official as it gets.”

Fox411.com’s Courtney Friel caught up with Simmons who played coy when asked if her recent commitment ceremony was a wedding.

“It’s whatever people call it, but that’s as official as it gets for me,” she said. “I was wearing white. There were rings and cakes and flowers and people crying. That’s as good as it gets for me. I don’t need anything extra.”

But one thing she was more than happy to discuss is her new line of affordable clothing, Kimora Kouture, where all items are $50 or less.

“People want to shop even in a recession,” Simmons said. “They want to look great, they want to feel great, but budgets are tight, jobs are getting cut, a lot of things are going on in the household, and people just don’t have a lot of expendable cash.”

Simmons said even she knows what it is like to feel the economic crunch, having had to fund her own business during tough times.

“You cannot be in a business like this for the money,” she tells Friel. “You may think you can, but you can’t. You have to do it from a passion, because there are dry seasons. There are times you invest your own money and your own sweat and tears and you really have to be dedicated to what you do.”

Simmons also says she is dedicated to providing fashion for real women.

“The average woman wears double digits [sizes],” she said. “I always say that ... size two or size zero, I don’t subscribe to that philosophy”

Celebrity photographer Indrani told the New York Post that she and wild child Lindsay Lohan were an item.

The paper cited sources saying the two had been on a several dates and that Indrani had spent the night at Lohan's hotel.
