The LA Lakers recently received their 16th Championship rings in a unique ring ceremony at the Staples Center, where each player was introduced by another team member. Just like the rings from the year earlier, these were created by Jason of Beverly Hills and are a step up in terms of value due to the 16 carat gold and 16 large white diamonds. Not only did these rings raise the gold and diamond count, they’ve also made history by incorporating a piece of leather material from the 2010 NBA Finals Game 7 ball. There’s no word on the exact price, but I’m pretty sure it’s much higher than the $30,000 ring the Lakers won last year. Also, you probably remember that after the Lakers won the championship game, one of the first people Ron Artest thanked was his psychiatrist. Well it looks like he’s putting his money where his mouth is by auctioning off his ring and donating the proceeds to mental health charities. Pop singer Justin Bieber was spotted hanging out courtside with actor Jaden Smith Tuesday night (Oct 26) as the Los Angeles Lakers took on the Houston Rockets at Staples Center in L.A. The pair (who had just performed on-stage at the arena the night before — along with Jaden’s little sister Willow) enjoyed each other’s company as the Lakers defeated the Rockets, 112 to 110.
Justin was also spotted chatting it up with actor Denzel Washington (and with his wife Pauletta) and soccer star David Beckham during the basketball game.
Rihanna hosted an autograph signing session celebrating the release of her new coffee table book, titled “Rihanna: The Last Girl On Earth,” Wednesday (Oct 27) at a Barnes & Noble in New York City. The book documents the pop singer with hundreds of never-before-seen photos as she records her Rated R album and performs all over the world for her “Last Girl On Earth” Tour.
“I think it was really special to have behind-the-scenes photos – you know, pictures that the fans haven’t seen before – all together of a very specific moment of my life, an album of my life,” Rihanna told MTV News. “They just get to see all the things that they hadn’t seen that were going on behind the scenes; really cool stuff, not typical. Earlier today, Mariah Carey confirmed to the rest of the world what we already know and have been known for a few days now. For the past few months, folks have been speculating on Mariah Carey’s pregnancy. And throughout the weeks, stories have been going around saying that the she and her husband would be announcing the big pregnancy “really soon” ….. and here we are.
Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon have announced that she and her husband Nick Cannon are expecting their first child together! The happily married couple broke the news this morning on “The Today Show” and will continue with a three-part “Access Hollywood” interview to air later.
“Yes, we are pregnant. This is true,” Mariah confirmed early this morning on Today. “It’s been a long journey, but it’s been tough because I’ve been trying to have…. to hold onto a shred of privacy. And that was not easy.”
Mariah says her baby is due in the Spring, but she didn’t reveal her exact due date because “it’s still early.”
“It’s still early, I’m expecting in the spring, I’ll say that. I don’t want to give too much of like, specific outlines,” she said.
This marks the second time Mr. and Mrs. Cannon have gone through a pregnancy. The first resulted in an unfortunate miscarriage two years ago, something the couple kept from the world for privacy concerns.
“It was really sad so we had to just, we had really to absorb this and take it in,” Carey said about her miscarriage.“And that’s what I said,” Nick chimed in. “Like her strength would literally be during the day so festive and smiling obviously for cameras and spending time with everyone and you know, literally that night crying herself to sleep.”

DELAND, Fla.– A DeLand High School student is facing robbery charges after allegedly holding up a convenience store armed with a bottle of salad dressing.
Police said 16-year-old Larry Franklin struck one convenience store on South Woodland Boulevard before using his so-called “weapon” at another store on Florida Avenue in DeLand on Friday. Surveillance video shows the teen walking behind the counter of the Friendly Way convenience store on South Florida Avenue and pointing a bottle of salad dressing a the store clerk. According to police, when one of the clerks pulled out a gun the teen quickly walked out from behind the counter.
The owner called police and the teen was arrested in front of the store, according to police.Police say the teen had already struck another store on South Woodland Boulevard earlier Friday, and had actually gotten away with some cash. Police say Franklin told them that he planned to use the stolen money to buy jewelry and drugs.

On how she felt after the accident:
“God has a crazy way of working, and sometimes when stuff happens you feel like, ‘What did I do to deserve this?’ Why was it backfiring on me?’ But I needed that wake-up call in my life. I needed a turning point, and that’s what God was giving to me.”
On her wake-up call:
“All this terrible stuff they say to you, it breaks you down. [But] once you’re back on your feet — if you ever make it back on your feet — that’s the ultimate achievement. I remember I was in New York at the Trump Hotel and I woke up and I just knew I was over it. It was a different day. I felt different. I didn’t feel lonely,” she recalls. I felt like I wanted to get up and be in the world. That was a great, great feeling.”
On her new relationship:
“I feel like I smile for real this time. The smiles come from inside, and it exudes in everything I do. People feel my energy is different. When I smile they can tell that it’s pure bliss and not just a cover up.”
