Instead of blowing her money fast, Elin Nordegren (Tiger Woods‘ now ex wife) is using some of her divorce settlement money to open up a mental health clinic in Florida to help underprivileged youth cope with their parents’ divorces.

The 30-year-old mother of two, who is currently studying for a degree in mental-health counselling, has been discussing the idea with her twin sister Josefin, who just so happens to be a lawyer in London. A friend of Elin’s recently spoke to the Sunday Times of London and said:

“Elin has a lot of ideas, including setting up her own clinic to help poorer children suffering from mental illnesses such as depression, eating disorders and hypertension, which can result from living in a broken family. Maybe it’s not surprising, but she feels strongly that children are the real victims when marriages fail.”

Another friend added:

“Elin wants to help children. She is the child of divorced parents and – having seen her own marriage end through no fault of her own, she is very aware of what that can do to kids.”

Good for her! We glad Elin is actually using some of her divorce money to help others. “Where they do that at?” (LOL)

In the days following the finalization of her divorce from pro golfer Tiger Woods, Elin Nordegren is ready to talk and is breaking her 9-month silence in an exclusive interview with People Magazine!

In Elin’s cover feature titled “My Own Story,” the pro golfer’s now ex-wife talks about her plan following the divorce, clears up the speculation surrounding the night she found out Tiger was cheating and more. She didn’t reveal how much money she got in the divorce settlement, but said that “money can’t buy happiness or put my family back together.”

Elin on surviving finding out her husband was cheating on her:

“I’ve been through hell. It’s hard to think you have this life, and then all of a sudden— was it a lie? You’re struggling because it wasn’t real. But I survived. It was hard, but it didn’t kill me. … I felt stupid as more things were revealed—how could I not have known anything? The word betrayal isn’t strong enough. I felt like my whole world had fallen apart. It seemed that my world as I thought it was had never existed. I felt embarrassed for having been so deceived. I felt betrayed by many people around me.”

Elin on allegedly attacking Tiger Woods with a golf club:

“This was one of the things I had the hardest time with people thinking. There was never any violence inside or outside our home. The speculation that I would have used a golf club to hit him is just truly ridiculous.”

Elin’s plan now that she’s divorced:

“I have been through the stages of disbelief and shock, to anger and ultimately grief over the loss of the family I so badly wanted for my children. I also feel stronger than I ever have. I have confidence in my beliefs, my decisions and myself. My immediate plan is for the kids and me to continue to adjust to our new situation. I am going to keep taking classes, but my main focus is to try to give myself time to heal.”
